The more I think about moss the more I realise what an underused wonder it is in gardens and I think I will post many more times on the subject. Today I found this amazing garden on a site called Moss Acres in the USA. Who would not want to just stroke those walls? I will writing on many more applications for moss as well as how to create a moss garden in the coming weeks.
There are too many gardeners killing moss from their lawns and paths and not enough encouraging it to grow. Bath has some amazing city walled gardens, a lot of which are shady and would provide ideal conditions. This wall needs no fertiliser, trimming or messing around with, it just does it's thing as long as it is in a shady place.
The simplicity and colour of this moss is awe-inspiring!
These mossy steps are straight out of a fairy tale, I adore the mystery of them. They appear almost sculptural and become an artform in themselves rather than just steps leading away somewhere. I am still in love with moss.
